Everybody loves pizza, right? We sure do, and we haven’t come across many kiddies who refuse to eat it. There are, of course, the chain-style pizza restaurants that deliver to your door for a family treat, but if you’re seeking something a little healthier, and a whole lot more flavoursome, it can be hard to find a restaurant that meets these requirements as well as offering a child-friendly environment. Never fear, Mozarella Bar is here.
Seddon’s newest eatery brings you traditional Italian, home-style cooking: simple and delicious. On our visit, the staff greeted us – and our babies – were welcoming of our prams, and promptly brought us high chairs. There was plenty of room to accommodate eveyone around the table.
Bigger kids will love watching the pizza chef slide the pizzas into the gorgeous turquoise woodfired oven (so did I!), and there is also a pretty interesting cured meat cabinet with hanging hams and salamis. There is also a television on display to keep little bottoms on seats. We could all appreciate the cherry red scooter perched above the bar area, but couldn’t help feeling a little sorry that it wasn’t zipping between traffic (perhaps down a cobbled Rome alleyway)!
The menu was well-suited to little diners. Although there was no children’s menu, the pizzas, to our delight, turned out to be the traditional kind – thin crust, minimal toppings – so they were gobbled up with gusto by our one-year-olds. The gnocchi was also a favourite, being light and fluffy and perfect for tiny tastebuds.
We were pretty satisfied by our lunch fare, but will be returning soon to try out the breakfast menu – a good decision by Mozzarella Bar because Seddon does tend to get very busy on a weekend morning, and finding a cafe with pram space can be a challenge. The dessert offerings also look very tempting: in particular, the homemade ricotta cannoli with glazed cherries.
