As a Seddon resident, I have been eagerly awaiting the opening of Ice Bear for many months. Now that it has opened, and we’ve sampled the frozen yoghurt on offer, it’s clear that Ice Bear is a dangerously delicious addition to the west!
An initiative of the Bongiovanni family (of Bongiovanni and Sons just across the street), the store is beautifully fitted out, with polished concrete floors, fake turf mats, and classic white tiles alongside steel furniture in gelato pastel colours. We stopped in today for the grand opening – for $2 you can fill an 8-ounce container with frozen yoghurt or gelato of your choice, and add your desired toppings.
There are 8 frozen yoghurt flavours – including banana, green apple, salted caramel, lime cheesecake and wildberry – plus two gelato flavours: hazelnut and chocolate. While the frozen yoghurt is 98% fat free, your choice of toppings will allow you to make it a healthy treat or an outrageously decadent one! The selection of toppings is impressive, and also unusual. Choose from your classics like chocolate freckles, crushed nuts, fresh fruit and snakes, or be a bit adventurous and go with the raw organic cacao nibs, the apple pie coulis, or ‘mango popping balls’.
The take-away fridge has some gorgeous kiddie-sized chocolate cones, and there is also coffee available.
There’s a special event on this Saturday the 4th October from 10am til 4pm, with free activities for the kids such as face painting, jumping castle, and a balloon artist, plus, we’re told there’ll be giveaways.
The best part? The store’s opening hours are perfect for your late-night dessert cravings! Dangerous.Address: 105A Victoria Street, Seddon. Phone: 9689 1873 Hours: Monday – Friday: 11am–10pm Saturday: 9am–10pm Sunday: 11am–9pm
