Get the kids off the couch with Cub Scouts! They’ll get into heaps of exciting indoor and outdoor activities, and Scouts is no longer just for boys. There are outdoor adventures like rock climbing, abseiling, camping, bushwalking, canoeing, sailing, gliding and flying, and billy-karting. They can learn traditional Scouting skills such as tying knots and navigating using a map and compass. They’ll play games, help others to ‘do their best’, and learn what to do in an emergency. They’ll visit exciting places and may even have the opportunity to attend a ‘State Cuboree’!Members are placed into a group of six, who are all aged between 7 and a half and 10 and a half. There are around 24 boys and girls in a Cub Scout Pack. Great for helping children to overcome shyness, they’ll soon realise that all the other Cub Scouts are there to enjoy themselves, make friends and learn new things, too.
Footscray Cub Scout Pack is located on Graham Street in West Footscray, next to the YMCA, and runs from 7:15 pm until 8:45 pm every Thursday night of the school term, including public holidays.
