With a huge array of cakes you will find it hard to choose, we can assure you that the treats will be the best you have tasted in Melbourne. The cafe is quite small so getting takeaways and heading to the park is the way to go if you have kids.
Vietnamese Children’s Lantern Festival – Federation Square: This traditional vietnamese event also known as the Mooncake festival brings families together to celebrate the full moon with a lantern parade, lantern making, story telling and dancing. This free event runs from 10 am – 8pm.
New Craft Market – Queen Victoria Market: Presenting the best of handmade crafts in Victoria this market is not to be missed!
Substation Craft Market: This monthly event is fantastic for sourcing unique gifts and it is great to be supporting the local art and craft community. Our tip: After browsing the market, head to Nosh at Newport for brunch.
Laverton Market: Grab a bargain at Melbourne’s newest and largest secondhand and ‘first hand’ market. Open from 7am – 4pm the market has over 1400 stalls so make sure you bring comfy walking shoes.
Balkan Banquet – YCC: If your dad or partner is a foodie then book him into this local cooking event. Running for one session from 10.00am – 1.30pm, the Balkan banquet includes how to make feta cheese corn bread, sarma (pickled cabbage leaves stuffed with minced beef, bacon and rice) and kadaif rolls (shredded filo pastry stuffed with walnuts and covered in thick sugar syrup). Yum! Cost is $50. Head to the YCC to book.
Blackbird River Cruise: At only $20 per adult and $5 per child this river cruise on the quaint Blackbird showcases the beautiful and historic Maribyrnong. Our tip: Bring a picnic lunch for this two hour cruise or head to Happy River Cafe for brunch prior to setting off.
